FOR FCA STAFF, LEADERS, COACHES,  VOLUNTEERS, PARENTS, & STUDENT LEADERS

This Every Student Sent page for FCA describes how student leaders, staff, volunteers, parents, and coaches can share the ESS App to provide a social online community for students to prepare for college and start with a team of friends and leaders.  At the end of this page is a section about helping FCA-connected students while in college, then transitioning to the workplace and community in their new city upon graduation.

Steps to Engage your Students

  1. Resister as a Youth Leader on www.EveryStudentSent.org and fill out their profile plus photo.
  2. Ask your high school students to register on www.EveryStudentSent.orgStudnetSent.org and fill out their profile plus photo.
  3. Watch Video material  your group to engage with them about their future - grades 9-12
  4. Parents appreciate the practical help for them in college search, ways to talk with their students, finding career and major, and avoiding massive college debt.
  5. Purpose/Career/Major - Students love practical discussions about their future, and finding their purpose will serve them for a lifetime.  See also how this connects them to missional communities in their academic department.
  6. ESS Social groups in their high school.  When a student registers on ESS and indicates their high school, they are automatically put into an ESS social group there, so they can meet other Christian students.  FCA huddles can create a group within the schools so that students find you. Go to My Sent Hub > Create a Group > Pick School from Dropdown
  7. National or State FCA ESS Social Groups - You can create these, which are like Facebook groups.  Follow above directions.

College Majors, Purpose, and Careers

Student Career Arc from HS to College to the Workplace

Barna Report - Vocational Discipleship
Barna believes this emphasis on careers presents an opportunity for the church to engage in what could be called “vocational discipleship”. The church has an opportunity to reach this next generation of teenagers through integrating career, and calling into their discipleship efforts.

ESS can provide video material for you to hold a huddle meeting about career, major, and God's unique purpose for every person.  (Ephesians 2:10

Career and Major Preparation

Click image to learn how 10-12th grade students can learn more about their personal design and find a college major leading to a career tied to their purpose. This is done through taking a assessment, then having the parent and student join a personal Zoom meeting with trained counselors to unpack the findings and get specific guidance regarding possible careers and associated college majors.  Also see ESS - Marketplace readiness.

Further ways to bless students in your huddle

  • During Junior and Senior college search, encourage students to make ministry and church connections part of their selection criteria.
  • As soon as final colleges are selected in the senior year, recommend students become an active member in ministry social groups at that university and team up with other incoming students, and collaborate how to reach their dorms during first weeks Sweet Spot.
  • During Christmas break, invite your recent grads to share with your students about their first semester in college, and how helpful it was during the first weeks to already have friends, mentors, and study partners, and how they had seen students come to Christ and be transformed.  Take the energy there and adopt a local high school in collaboration with our high school partners like Youth Alive, FCA, Cru High School, YFC, Young Life, etc.
  • Bless your community.   Spread the good news about Every Student Sent to all other churches and Christian schools in your community.  Send this ESS Churches Page, and this City Movement Page
  • Volunteers - See the ESS Ambassadors page about ways parents and students can help.

During college and after graduation

Every Student Sent has current and future features for college students, and for the transition to the workplace and life in their new city after graduation:

Current features:

  • Preparation for job acquisition and transition to the workplace with our partner Baton Exchange
  • Further help defining career objectives with our partner Career Direct
  • Forming missional communities within each academic department.  This helps students learn to multiply disciples and influence culture in a professional environment, so that they are ready to do the same in the workplace.  Marketplace ministries and Christian professional societies help with expertise, mentoring and future job connections.  Contact us about starting this at your university.

Features under development

  • ESS Social Network to maintain and find connections with other FCA-related students and grads.  See pilot FCA-Kansas City ESS group
  • An internship and Career acquisition service similar to Indeed.  See NextLead.

Every Student Sent is supported by generous donors.   Supporting and Accelerating Every Student Sent.

Every Student Sent is a national movement and a free community-based platform to connect all US high school students to existing ministries, churches, and each other many months before college in order to propel them towards Gospel-centered mission as they navigate and engage culture.. See this call to action by Josh McDowell.  No longer do you and parents have to see years of love and investment into students go down the drain.
